    CBRN Protection

    CBRN - or Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear hazards - involves the measures and equipment used to defend society from the dangers presented by these types of threats. It involves an extensive approach to ensure the safety and well-being of people in the face of emergencies and potential disasters. Typically, our CBRN protection systems are part of a Life Support System. It combines with HVAC, but it can also be a standalone system. A typical CBRN protection system includes one standard NBC / CBRN Filter for the platform.

    It offers three Protection Modes:
    • Overpressure Protection: The crew cabin is overpressurized by filtered air, eliminating the need for individual protection.
    • Collective Facemasks Protection: When the crew cabin can’t be overpressurized, filtered and conditioned air is delivered to each NBC Facemask.
    • Hybrid Protection: Simultaneous Overpressure and Collective Facemask Protection are mainly used to prepare a hatch or ramp opening in a contaminated area.

    These products and methods minimize risks associated with exposure to harmful substances. Whether in military settings, emergency response situations, or civilian environments, CBRN protection plays a vital role in safeguarding lives and maintaining security.

    Health and Safety Policy

    Our Occupational Health and Safety Policy applies to all employees at any of our locations worldwide. It states that all employees will comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety and health standards, rules, and regulations to the best of their ability. Our policy also details that employees will follow applicable best management practices in cases where OSHA regulations may not apply. Elbit America provides employees with safe tools, personal protective equipment, and other work equipment and ensures workplace conditions comply with applicable OSHA standards. We also maintain ongoing Employee Safety Training so that employees follow the most updated safety and health requirements.

    CBRN Protection

    Elbit America’s CBRN protection systems offer the latest NBC / CBRN protection technologies and unique features, assuring safe operation for extended periods and reduced Life Cycle Costs. These include:

    • NATO AEP-54 Compliance offers maximum safety against Toxic Industrial Chemicals (TIC).
    • Advanced Particles / Dust Separation technology reduces the dust clogging of the NBC / CBRN Filter (HEPA stage).
    • Relative Humidity Reduction (RHR) System reduces the NBC / CBRN Filter (chemical stage) clogging by air humidity.
    • NBC Filter Bypass Valve allows safe and easy engagement/disengagement of the NBC / CBRN Filter - increases Filter life.
    • Exchangeable Pre-Filter—a concentric low-cost filter (in addition to the HEPA and chemical stages) saves NBC / CBRN Filter replacements and minimizes life cycle costs and logistics.
    • Dynamic Overpressure & Air-Quality Control System minimizes the ambient airflow through the NBC / CBRN Filter. It increases its life while keeping overpressure safe and providing adequate air quality in the crew cabin.
    • NBC / CBRN Filter Indicator provides reliable indication for NBC / CBRN Filter replacement.
    • Computerized control that allows flexibility in changing operational features by software upgrade.
    • Networking with the main vehicle computer.

    • Integrated Chemical / Radiation Detection Systems (CDS / RDS) offer safe detection and automatic operation of the NBCS.
